Tai Sifu Alan Hubbard began training in the martial arts in February 1975 at the age of 12. After an extensive series of special training classes he began teaching as an assistant Jr. Instructor in 1977 while attending high school.

In 1977 Tai Sifu Hubbard made his first trip the Far East traveling to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Korea for training and exhibitions.

Tai Sifu Hubbard is currently Chief Instructor of Eastern Ways Martial Arts Schools® located in Fair Oaks with the second location in Folsom California. Eastern Ways was founded in 1995 and is a full time school teaching Choy Li Fut Kung Fu, Yang style Tai Chi and traditional Lion Dancing. At the annual Plum Blossom banquet in 2004, Eastern Ways Martial Arts Schools® were awarded the “school of the year” by Grandmaster Doc-Fai Wong and Tai Sifu Jason Wong.

In 1998 Tai Sifu Hubbard, Tai Simo Molina and his senior Instructing staff traveled to southern China and Hong Kong for training and touring with Grandmaster Doc-Fai Wong and affiliate Plum Blossom members. While in Jiangmen city, Guang Dong China , Tai Sifu Hubbard and his staff performed at the Choy Li Fut convention to a record number of visitors and masters including Great Grandmaster Wong Gong, Doc-Fai Wong's teacher.

In 2002 Tai Sifu Hubbard traveled to China again with Grandmaster Doc-Fai Wong for training and touring including a visit to the famous Shaolin temple.

One of Tai Sifu Hubbard's most important personal achievements is being accepted as a personal student of the world renowned Grandmaster Doc-Fai Wong. Tai Sifu Hubbard was officially elevated to the rank of sixth-generation Tai Sifu of Choy Li Fut and an official disciple by Doc-Fai Wong in 2004.

In 2004, Tai Sifu Hubbard competed in the First World Traditional Wushu Festival, where he won medals in both divisions he competed in. He also traveled to China in 2005 to take part in an exhibition of martial arts held in Jiangmen City, Guangdong, China, as well several other demonstrations held at some of the orignal schools Choy Li Fut was first taught in.

In 2006, Tai Sifu Hubbard traveled to China again, this time going to Xuwen, China, to take part in the Huajian Garden Cup Invitational International Tournament. Tai Sifu Hubbard competed in three events and won three gold medals.
