In November, 2006, Eastern Ways Martial Arts sent a team to join Grandmaster Doc-Fai Wong and the Plum Blossom Federation in competing in The First World Cup Tai Chi Chuan Championship in 2006. The Eastern Ways team competed in Fixed Step and Moving Step Push Hands, with 9 students and instructors competing. The Plum Blossom Federation team numbered almost 80 people, the biggest foreign team not from China.
Ms. Farage of Fair Oaks won 3rd place in Women's Moving Step Push Hands, and Mr. Lendech, Asst. Head Instructor of Fair Oaks, won 4th place in Men's Fixed Step Push Hands. There were over 200 competitors total in Push Hands events from around the world, including more than 20 countries. Most of the team continued on to mainland China, where they toured some of the original schools Choy Li Fut Kung Fu was first taught in, and performed in several local demonstrations, including one for the Guangzhou Province Choy Li Fut Association's ten year anniversary. Below are some pictures from both parts of the trip, in Southern China and Taiwan!
