Sifu Stroh

Sifu Matt Stroh started his training in Choy Li Fut Kung Fu in 1998 under Tai Sifu Alan Hubbard. Under Tai Sifu Hubbard he also began training in Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan. Since 1999 Sifu Stroh has had the privilege of training directly with Tai Sifu Hubbard, 6 th generation Choy Li Fut Disciple, 3 rd generation Yang Tai Chi Disciple and personal student of Grand Master Doc Fai Wong. During his training since 1998 he has had the great opportunity to train directly with Grand Master Wong on a regular basis. Sifu Stroh was awarded the rank of Senior Advanced Level (Black Fringe) and on the recommendation of his teacher Tai Sifu Hubbard, promoted to the level of Sifu by Grandmaster Wong on March 12, 2005 .

 

Sifu Stroh is an accomplished Lion Dancer and has performed annually since1998 at events like the Chinese New Years Parade, and the Double Ten Parade in San Francisco, California . He has also performed at the San Francisco WuShu Festival both Lion Dancing and Kung Fu Forms demonstration. Other demonstrations include annual performances at the California State Fair, the Pacific Rim Festival, the Plum Blossom Martial Arts Exhibition, various cultural events, new years' celebrations, weddings, grand openings and many other various occasions throughout Sacramento.

 

Sifu Stroh has successfully competed in many tournaments including the First Ever World Wide Kung Fu Tournament Held in Zengzou China where he won a silver medal in hand forms and a Bronze medal in weapons. Other tournaments include the Traditional Wushu Tournament in Xuwen, China where he won two gold medals for his hand and weapon forms, the Annual Plum Blossom Championship Tournament, the Berkeley Wushu Tournament, and Eastern Ways Martial Arts Tournaments also winning medals in Hand Forms, Weapon Forms, Two Person Forms, Sparring, Push-hands, and Tai Chi.

 

Sifu Stroh is the Head Instructor of Eastern Ways Martial Arts in Elk Grove, California under Tai Sifu Hubbard. He has been teaching Choy Li Fut, Yang Tai Chi, and Lion Dancing .full time since 1999. He has earned the Outstanding Instructor of the Year Award for 2001 and various other teaching awards from the Girl Scouts Of America.
