Eastern Ways Martial Arts
Eastern Ways Martial ArtsĀ® is one of the few schools that do both lion and dragon dancing, and the only school in the Sacramento area that practices both of these ancient arts.

Where the lion dance is the work of two people coordinating their movements together, the dragon dance takes 9 people. The Eastern Ways dragons are each 72 feet long, and take 9 people to dance with. The dragon dance is known for its broad, sweeping movements,

where the dragon chases the pearl, the dragon's traditional prey.

Dragon dancing is captivating, as the dragon winds itself in intricate patterns, raising and lowering, winding left and right, with each person who does the dragon dance following the person in front of him, so that the dragon flows naturally like a living animal. The dragon dance is often very intricate and energetic, with performers running with the dragon, pumping it up and down in the air as they move, keeping careful time with the person ahead of them, always aware of the person behind them.
